Nathan Wise is Professor of Public and Applied History, and Executive Dean in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education, at the University of New England [Australia]. Nathan’s first book, Anzac Labour: Workplace cultures in the Australian Imperial Force during the First World War [published 2014], explored the nature of work within the military, including approaches towards daily work, workplace resistance and protest, workplace identities and working relationships both amongst the rank-and-file, and between the rank-and-file and officers. His second book, The Pursuit of Justice: The military moral economy in the USA, Australia, and Great Britain – 1861-1945 [published 2017] explored the role of moral economies within military environments. As both Professor of Public and Applied History, and Executive Dean of the Faculty of HASSE, Nathan encourages colleagues to embrace diverse knowledge systems to foster community connections across all areas of academia.
