DASSH welcomes the establishment of the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Advisory Committee and its focus is on helping deliver funding to research that has maximum impact for the Australian community.
This focus paves the way for critical investment in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities research and innovative interdisciplinary collaborations.
It’s great to see the establishment of the ARC Indigenous Forum and we welcome co-Chairs Professors Barry Judd and Bronwyn Fredericks.
Congratulations also to immediate-past President of the Australian Academy of the Humanities Distinguished Professor Emeritus Lesley Head.
We also welcome the appointment of a number of key figures from the technology and innovation sectors, the policy and social services sector and ex-officio representatives.
We know that Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences research makes Australians happier, healthier and more secure. Research in these fields also facilitates the uptake of critical scientific innovations like vaccines and climate change mitigation technologies.
We look forward to working with the ARC and other bodies to highlight the benefits of our disciplines to all Australians and the broader global community.
