Professor Alexandra Ludewig, Head of the School of Humanities at The University of Western Australia, is a scholar of German, European and Translation Studies. Her award-winning lecturing has recently been featured in a blog hosted by “learning inspired” (2024): https://echo360.com/ludewig-uwa/.
Her teaching and research focus on issues of identity and ‘Heimat’ and she has published extensively in both German and English on these topics. In 2023 she co-authored the Routledge volume The Lives and Legacy of a Carceral Island: A Biographical History of Wadjemup/Rottnest Island together with Ann Curthoys and Shino Konishi, which has since won the Margaret Medcalf Award and a WA History Council Award (Best Local History).
