In 2016, the Hon Dr Anne Aly entered federal parliament as the Member for Cowan. In 2021 she was awarded the McKinnon Prize for Emerging Political Leader of the Year, in recognition of her Parliamentary work against both right-wing extremism and family & domestic violence. Dr Aly is now the Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education and Minister for Youth. Completing a PhD at Edith Cowan University, Dr Aly has also become a leading academic and practitioner in counter terrorism.
