Are you a DASSH member looking to advance your senior leadership career?

We are inviting colleagues across the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities in both Australia and Aotearoa to participate as mentees in our pilot 2025 Mentoring Program.

Getting involved as a Mentee is a great way to gain expert insight and guidance from senior and experienced leaders across the higher education sector.

Mentees are encouraged to share their specific goals with their Mentors and work towards them over the duration of the program.

This is an open ended and user led program. Some of the ways mentees can use this program include to:

  • Receive support in professional development and career planning
  • Learn different strategies and approaches on how to advocate and support their disciplines
  • Further develop leadership capacities and experience
  • Establish cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional connections

Applications are open to staff members affiliated with the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at member institutions. This includes Heads of School, Discipline Leads, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans and both early and mid-career researchers.

Mentees need to seek approval to participate from their Council Member. If you’re not sure who the Council Member is at your university get in touch and we can tell you.

Commitment

Commitment

DASSH mentees and mentors commit to meeting for four one-hour sessions between July and December 2025.

These sessions are dedicated to providing guidance in areas of professional development. This may include areas including leadership, capacity building, strategy planning and career development for example, but are not limited to these.

The specific goals, areas of focus and desired outcomes of mentoring are agreed upon by both mentor and mentee according to respective goals and areas of experience.

Mentees are not obliged to perform any tasks suggested by mentors. DASSH takes care of the administration of the program, so that mentors and mentees can focus on professional development.

Mentee applications close on Sunday 15 June.
