‘Existential threat’ to New Zealand humanities as grants shut off

Two-hundred and fifty arts, social sciences and humanities Deans from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia have labelled the changes to New Zealand’s funding rules for arts, social sciences and humanities an existential threat to societies. 

The loss of top-up funding from New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment for arts, social science and humanities research projects supported by Horizon Europe begun this week.  

DASSH President Heather Zwicker says that this is worrying for all researchers and societies as a whole.
