John Ross is an award-winning journalist and Asia-Pacific Editor for Times Higher Education (THE). Based in Australia, he covers higher education policy, research, governance, and internationalisation across the region, with a particular focus on developments in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. With over two decades of experience in journalism, Ross brings deep insight into the challenges and transformations facing the global tertiary education sector.

Before joining THE, John was a senior writer at The Australian, where he reported extensively on science and education, a journalist with Campus Review, and a media officer with the NSW Department of Education and Training.  His work is known for its clarity, balance, and ability to translate complex academic issues for broader audiences.
